Michael Bay Attacked on Set of Transformers: Age Of Extinction

Michael Bay on Set Transformers 4

Michael Bay was reportedly attacked on the set of the upcoming Transformers: Age Of Extinction movie. The big-time director apparently upset a couple of local street traders, taking a punch in the face as a result.

However, things are not all they seem, as Bay himself explained in an official statement:

Yes, the story is being passed around is not all true!” he said. “Yes, some drugged up guys were being belligerent asses to my crew for hours in the morning of our first shoot day in Hong Kong.

“One guy rolled metal carts into some of my actors trying to shake us down for thousands of dollars to not play his loud music or hit us with bricks.

“Every vendor where we shot got paid a fair price for our inconvenience, but he wanted four times that amount. I personally told this man and his friends to forget it we were not going to let him extort us.

“He didn’t like that answer. So an hour later he came by my crew as we were shooting, carrying a long air conditioner unit.

“He walked right up to me and tried to smack my face, but I ducked, threw the air unit on the floor and pushed him away. That’s when the security jumped on him. But it took seven big guys to subdue him.

“It was like a Zombie in Brad Pitt’s movie World War Z – he lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them. He actually bit into one of the guards’ Nike shoe, insane. Thank god it was an Air Max, the bubble popped, but the toe was saved.

“Then it took fifteen Hong Kong cops in riot gear to deal with these punks. In all, four guys were arrested for assaulting the officers. After that, we had a great day shooting here in Hong Kong.”

Reading through that, we didn’t know whether to laugh or be worried for the crew’s safety, but that there would be a great scene for any movie. Hats off to Bay for his no-nonsense approach to the situation.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction hits theaters on July 2014.

Should Jon Hamm Be The New Batman

Jon Hamm as new Batman

The Mad Men actor is interested in being the new Batman, but should he?

With Ben Affleck likely not returning as Batman in the World of DC, formerly known as the DC Extended Universe, fans have suggested several actors to don the the iconic cape and cowl. One of the more popular suggestions is Jon Hamm, and it’s easy to see why.

Hamm, best known for playing advertising executive Don Draper in the AMC television drama series Mad Men, not only has the acting chops, but he also has the look — chiseled jaw, robust build, and all — to possibly do Batman justice on the big screen. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s internationally considered as a sex symbol, moreso than even Ben Affleck.

Fortunately, in an ‘In Depth’ interview with Graham Bensinger, he revealed that he’s a big comic book fan and would be interested provided the role if the story was good:

“It depends on the script, what the story is. I am a huge comic book fan, always have been. I have read comic books since I was nine or younger. And I am pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like when they are done well.”

Hamm even speculated on what it would like to be Batman, and isn’t put off by having to hit the gym to achieve a toned and muscular:

“I’d probably fit the suit. I’d have to work out a lot, which I don’t love. But, I am sure there is an interesting version of that being out there. And if they wanted to tap me on the shoulder and ask me to do it: why not?”

With the DC movie franchise undergoing a major restructuring, Hamm has a great opportunity to put his name forward for the part of Bruce Wayne.

I mean, which other actor could possibly be more primed for the role?

What Character Can Henry Cavill Play In The Marvel Universe?

Henry Cavill Man of Steel Superman

Now that he is no longer Superman, the man is free to roam.

It probably came as shock to DC fans when it was revealed that Henry Cavill would no longer play the role of Superman in the live-action DC Universe due to scheduling conflicts, but — you know what they say — there is a silver lining in everything.

With Cavill leaving, Warner Bros. has no plans for another Superman film for several years, which isn’t necessarily to say he will never don the cape again. In fact, his manager, Dany Garcia, noted in a cryptic tweet that “the cape is still in his closet”, suggesting that there could still be a future for Cavill’s Superman.

Not the type to be put down by such unfortunate news, fans were quick to make suggestions as to what he should do next, with most pointing him towards the direction of the much more successful Marvel cinematic universe. But what Marvel hero or villain could he possibly suit up as should the opportunity arise?

Some of the fan suggestions — notably Cyclops from the X-Men, a replacement for Huge Jackman’s Wolverine, and Nova from the Guardians — sound very interesting, while others like Uncle Ben suggestion had me chuckling. Seeing as Cavill is British, Captain Britain propped up more than a few times.

Now it’s your turn — what Marvel character do you think would be a good fit for the former Man of Steel? Let us know in the comments.

Tyrese Gibson Doesn’t Want to be a Movie Star

Actor Tyrese Gibson

During the promotion of his 25-minute short film Shame at the Aruba International Film Festival, Tyrese Gibson revealed that he doesn’t want to be movie star, desiring instead to be a renowned musician.

The B-List actor — best known for his supporting roles in the Fast and Furious and Transformers movies — described the struggles he faces as an actor in an interview with Film Journal, specifically stating:

“When you become really successful in box office, you get typecast and put into a box.”

Despite his global fame and success, the singer-songwriter doesn’t want to be a “movie star” and wants to make an impression on the world as an artist, adding:

“My interest is not to be a movie star, I’m just focused on the arts. I love it. I got a lot of people that look up to me, and the fact that I have this God-given stage to motivate and inspire people, that’s the biggest gift in the world. It’s something that I don’t take for granted.”

Tyrese is also not a fan of the movie star lifestyle enjoyed by the likes of Will Smith and fellow Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel, supposedly because of the pressure it demands:

“You got people waking up every day saying, ‘How can I be more famous?’ That’s not my interest. Being around the Vin Diesels and the Will Smiths of the world, I don’t want that life,” he said. “That’s a different level of pressure that I don’t necessarily want to carry.”

That’s not to say he’s not interested in movies. In fact, Gibson stated that he would love to be in the films directed by successful and highly-respected directors like Paul Haggis, Quentin Tarantino, Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Lee Daniels, James Mangold and Martin Scorsese:

“… these guys have a list of people they call all the time, the same f—ing people … I gotta be on this list. So instead of me complaining, I said I’m gonna create something to get on their radar.”

What must poor ol’ Tyrese do to get the attention he deserves?
