With Game of Thrones Season 6 now running in high gear, shedding some light on some long standing mysteries, George R.R. Martin made an appearance at Balticon to read an extract from his forthcoming book, The Winds of Winter. He revealed that Brienne of Tarth’s ancestor is Ser Duncan the Tall, the legendary seven-foot knight of Westeros.
Joffrey actually mentioned him once in Season 4, but we won’t chastise non-book readers for not being familiar with him…
As one of Westeros’ most famous knights, Ser Duncan is one of Martin’s favourite characters, with the author going as far as to say the character would be perfect for a Game of Thrones spin-off.
That just makes us want to see him on the silver screen even more…
In summary, Brienne is a tall, badass warrior because height and fighting run in the family. Is there anything else you want to know about her?
Game of Thrones Season 7 Teaser Trailer Makes Wait Painful
If you’re like me, the thought of Game of Thrones Season 7 being a long way off (it’s been delayed, you know) is beyond saddening, especially with the way Season 6 ended. However, knowing that people are working hard to ensure top-notch quality makes the wait a little less painful.
At San Diego Comic Con, HBO unveiled a nice little teaser providing a behind-the-scenes look at Season 7’s development, taking us to most of the corners of the Seven Kingdoms and showing off some general set shenanigans.
It’s made very apparent that Queen Cersei’s reign will be a big highlight of the show, but you probably already knew that…
Game of Thrones Season 7 airs in Summer 2017.
Walking Dead Season 7 Trailer Shows Negan’s New World, Tigers
One of the highlight of Comic Con San Diego was the release of The Walking Dead Season 7 trailer, and it didn’t fail to impress.
The trailer is gory, but it didn’t reveal who Negan ended up killing. Instead, it reacquaints us with the show’s beloved gang, using soft lighting to deliver the “feels”.
The closest we come to finding out who dies is their blood dripping from Negan’s baseball bat, and we’d be amazed if anyone can make the identification from that alone.
By far the biggest “OH MY GOD!” moment arrive in the second half, where the Saviors continue to make their evil known, and it seems quite a few of them aren’t particularly fond of their murderous leader.
We also get to see King Ezekiel, one of the more popular characters in the comic and the leader of a self-sustaining community known as the Kingdom. He has a pet tiger.

The action begins in October 2016.
Daryl Says Earth Will Explode Over Walking Dead Season 7
With The Walking Dead Season 6 finale ending on a cliff-hanger, there is a good chance that fans of the show will tune in to season 7, if only to see who Negan ended up killing. However, Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, says there will many other highlights in a season that “the planet is going to explode” over.
In fact, there are many who believe that Negan’s unfortunate victim will be Daryl; however, Reedus promises viewers will be entertained from beginning to end regardless of whether or not his character is alive. He revealed as much to Entertainment Weekly in an interview:
“I think probably the planet is going to explode. That’s my feeling. It’s so good. Every time we go on a promotional tour talking about what’s going to come, we all say ‘Oh my God, it’s amazing. I can’t wait for you to see it.’ But it continually surprises me how this show grows and is put together and the execution of it – no pun intended. It blows my mind. It just continually reaches a new plateau every single time, and this is the highest plateau we’ve ever been. So just wait. It’s worth the wait, trust me.”
As for the controversial season 6 finale, the actor had the following to say:
“I’ve been making art for a long time and you want people to talk. Sometimes you make something just to get people to talk. The fact that people are still talking is a huge compliment to how that episode was executed and the acting in it and the writing of it. That’s a good thing.”
It will be a long before Daryl and the rest of The Walking Dead gang return to TV screens, so feel free to speculate away. What are you hopping to see?
